In the 2016-2017 fiscal year, Soroptimist International of Anacortes contributed over $262,000 for: local scholarships; contributions to worthy local, regional and international organizations; and to special award winners.

$61,500 in budgeted contributions went to the following local organizations: Anacortes Family Center; Boys & Girls Club of Anacortes; Gentry House; Island Prenatal Center; Hospice of the NW; Salvation Army; St. Vincent de Paul; Relay For Life; Meals on Wheels; Life Line; and Friendship House.
Additional contributions of $45,000 were paid to: Etta Project, for their health programs in Bolivia; Mt. Erie School, for starting a Rachel’s Closet; SDVSAS, for their education program; Anacortes Police Department, for the Cebbrite Phone System; and an additional contribution went to the Anacortes Family Center, to pay for mental health professionals.
Approximately $29,000 in unbudgeted grants were awarded to many organizations, including, but not limited to: Anacortes School District; Fidalgo Dance Works; Youth Dynamics; Anacortes Railway Project; Skagit Women’s Alliance Network; MONA; Royal Family Kid’s Camp; Skagit Community Band; Eagles Thanksgiving Dinner and the Friends of Skagit Libraries. Soroptimist Service Committees of Domestic Violence, Economic and Social Development, Education, Environment, Health, Human Rights/Status of Women, and United Nations/International Goodwill and Understanding awarded an additional $31,500 to organizations that met our Mission Statement: To Better the Lives of Women and Girls.
